The 81st Montana Open was in Helena April 16 and 17, attracting 29 individuals from across the region. Once again, David Duke walked away with top honors with 4.5 points. Wilton Strickland and Jacob Nathan finished tied for second with 4.0 points. Arlene Bodie took the biggest upset overcoming a 457 point differential to garner the biggest upset prize. There were 5 upsets in the first round with the lowest differential being 298 points. Twelve year-old Jacob Nathan improved his rating by 166 points with this tournament performance.
